Sampling and Culturing: What is Key to Enhance Reprocessing Quality?

In literature, the contamination level of ready-to-use endoscopes varies from 0.4 % to 49.0 %. The comparison of these results is difficult due to the variety of local recommendations, indicator microorganisms, target and action levels, as well as the approach to endoscope sampling.

The interactive symposium that was held during the World Federation for Hospital Sterilisation Sciences (WFHSS) 2023 congress in Brussels from 18 – 21 October 2023, focuses on the essentials and challenges of endoscope sampling and culturing and discusses the key success factors for an internationally harmonized approach.
